Social Lean Canvas

Social Lean Canvas

Purpose

Initiate a shift from fragmented closed-source internal computer systems to systems built on an open-source platform. Make it faster, cheaper and easier to get a custom computer system for your organization without the risk of vendor lock-in.

Problem

Most government agencies and non-profits need custom computer systems. But custom computer systems are often built from the ground up, which is difficult, costly and ineffective

Existing alternatives

  • Systems such as SAP (costly, vendor lock-in)

  • Open-source solutions such as Joget (questionable sustainability percieved as a huge risk)

  • Custom development (costly, high-risk)

Solution

  • Adopt one of the many open-source no-code platforms such as Joget that make it easier to build a custom computer system

  • Add features specifically needed in the Czech environment, such as documentation and connectors to existing government services

  • Guarantee maintainership to reduce risk perceived in open-source solutions

Key Metrics

  • Cost of implementation

  • Speed of adoption for an in-house analyst

  • Number of contractors and vendors fully familiar with the platform

Unique Value Proposition

Digitalize your organization faster & cheaper through open-source software

Unfair Advantage

  • Strong experience with all aspects needed to lead the change from custom closed-source solution to an open-source platform

  • Unique insight into non-profit and government digitalization needs

  • Huge existing expert volunteer community

  • Neutral player (not a government agency, not a business)

  • Trust from government agencies

Channels

We already have a popular tech incubation program receiving dozens of applications from relevant organizations.

Customer Segments

Anyone who needs a computer system to automate business processes:

  • Government agencies

  • Non-profits

  • (for-profit businesses welcome too)

Early Adopters

Smaller non-profits that want a custom computer system but don’t have the budget for custom development

Cost Structure

  • Small team of experts to identify the right open-source project, analyze it and prepare tasks for volunteers to continuously move development forward

  • Community support by Česko.Digital

Revenue

  • Partnerships with leading technology companies

  • Software vendors using and supporting the project

Impact

  1. Issue – Public institutions’ computer systems are fragmented, created from scratch. They need to be rebuilt from scratch in new public procurements frequently.

  2. Participants – NGOs, government institutions and commercial software vendors

  3. Activity – We‘ll adopt a globally developed open-source software for no-code business process automation and adapt it for the Czech environment

  4. Short-term outcome – We’ll start public debate and pilot the system for various use-cases in smaller NGOs that asked us for help

  5. Mid-term outcome – We’ll find a commercial software vendor who will join public procurements with a solution based on our platform

  6. Long-term outcome – Several big public institutions will build their information systems on our platform and they’ll update digital processes in-house with their analysts instead of building new systems from scratch in public procurements

  7. Impact – We’ll show a strong case study of government institutions working closely in cooperation with the NGO sector to deliver results cheaper and with lower risk of vendor lock-in
